Adventure in the Dragoons

This was an adventure that we recently discovered!

Our hope for destination, did not make it up the hill.

Our hope for destination, did not make it up the hill.

We managed to be passengers in a quest to find an old abandoned copper/gold mine and mining town, located in the Dragoon  Mountains.  The roads to this abandoned mine and  ghost town are rugged.  Jeeps are the best way to get there. There are many abandoned mines and after a some interesting roads, we reached the dead end of private property and could no go further. These are not considered “Off Road”  roads, but not all vehicles would find the roads passable.

Not to be let down, off we went into another direction and found another interesting spot to break for lunch.  We did not get to the other accessible mine, but we did find a vertical shaft that had been worked.

We found ourselves again in excitement to do something  new, fun, interesting and yet so foreign to us that it was not even listed on our “Bucket List”. This was a special day and we are grateful to our hosts Bruce and Susan for allowing us to tag along.
