Birthday in Sedona, Arizona

What a birthday surprise this day became.  We drove the scenic Hwy 89A from Flagstaff to Sedona for the Mexican Independence Festival.  The Red Rock Canyon drive was stunning with spiral hairpin  curves and steep grades.  Yet, we arrived safely and were so pleased with the scenery.  This area of Arizona makes me smile over and over at its beauty.

Sedona is a lovely artist community with hills and mountains in and surrounding the city.  We focused our full day attention on the festival which had musical venues, traditional dancing and artists painting in the courtyards. The shops were small but filled with quality merchandise.  Phil picked out a lovely Zuni inlaid coral and turquoise set of earrings for my birthday gift.

We dined at Rene’s, a french restaurant within the courtyard and listened to the Mariachis just outside our window table.

We drove the souhtern route back to Flagstaff, a less exciting drive, but we continued to be amazed at the beautiful scenery.

This was a beautiful day that I will cherish for the rest of my life!  Thank you dear husband of mine.
