Meeting up with our dear friends, Fred and Jessica, who have a cabin in the woods at the Flint Ridge Resort (a 7000 acre, gated community in the Ozark Foothills of northeast Oklahoma) was our first experience at “dry camping” . The three camp sites on the property had not been de-winterized yet. We had electric, no water or hookup for sewer. There was a black tank dump conveniently at the camp-site. This was no problem as we had everything on board to do this.
We walked the woods admiring the dogwood trees in bloom, were serenaded at dusk by the owls , during the night we heard the drip drops of a light rain and awakened with song birds and sunshine. We were so proud of our successful over-night.
We had a lovely dinner with them at their cabin with Chef Fred doing the BBQ duty on the deck. After such a feast, we bravely invited them to our trailer for brunch the following morning. It was our first hosting event and it deserved champagne mimosa! Anything tastes good after a mimosa or two….
We always enjoy Fred and Jessica and will meet up with them for a Tulsa Playboy’s dance in a couple of weeks.
